A UVA Fan's Rooting Guide For This Weekend

We have reached the final weekend of regular season play, and UVA finds itself right in the heart of all bubble talk. Tony Bennet's crew looks like they are on the right side of the bubble, but there is work to be done if they want to be comfortable in their chairs on Selection Sunday.

Before we get into the rooting guide for this weekend, I want to make myself clear, Saturday night's game vs. Georgia Tech @ JPJ is a must-win. That is step one. Step 2 is rooting against the below teams to hopefully provide some cushion for UVA entering the ACC Tournament.

I have put the games in chronological order. The team highlighted is the team on the bubble in which UVA fans should root against. In parentheses is where the team currently stands according to @JBRBracketology on X. Go follow him, he's one of the good ones.

St. John's (Last Four In) vs. Georgetown 12:00 PM

Florida Atlantic (Last Four Byes) vs. Memphis 12:oo PM **

Memphis (Next Four Out) @ FAU 12:00 PM **

Texas A&M (First Four Out) vs. Ole Miss @ 2 PM

Villanova (Last Four In) vs. Creighton @ 2:30 PM

Mississippi State (Last Four Byes) vs. South Carolina 2:30 PM

Colorado (Last Four In) @ Oregon State 5:oo PM

Iowa (First Four Out) vs. Illinois 7:00 PM

Utah (Next Four Out) @ Oregon 7:00 PM

Pittsburgh (Next Four Out) vs. NC State 7:45 PM

Providence (Next Four Out) vs. UConn 8:00 PM

Seton Hall (Last Four Byes) vs. DePaul 8:30 PM

New Mexico (First Four Out) @ Utah State 8:30 PM

Boise State (Last Four Byes) @ San Diego State 10:00 PM

Drake (First Four Out) Currently playing in the MVC tournament. Root for them to lose at any point

** I would root for FAU here. They are closer to a lock than on the bubble and Memphis would have a very tough time getting back near the bubble if they lose this one.

Villanova, Texas A&M, Iowa, New Mexico, and Providence are the big ones. They are the teams that could in theory hop UVA even if the Hoos win on Saturday due to the "quality" of the win.

UVA currently sits as one of the last four teams IN on JBR's bracket. He says "A win vs. GT and I don't see how they miss the tournament." Although that is comforting, I still want to see this team make some noise in the ACC Tournament to gain some confidence back.

Let's get a win vs. GT first though. Go Hoos!
