9/9/23 @ 12:00- Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. (+7.5) NC State Wolfpack
Notre Dame has looked nothing short of flawless the first two games. Sam Hartman is dropping dimes, the Irish rushing attack has proved to be lethal, and their defense has been scarier than a ghost that isn’t named Casper. Their opponents so far, Navy and Tennessee State, haven’t necessarily been “Goliaths” but there is certainly something to say about taking care of business when you are expected to. Marcus Freeman has his squad clicking on all cylinders and the Irish are licking their chops as they face their first real test of the season against the Wolfpack this coming Saturday.
NC State on the other hand had a tough go offensively in their Week 1 matchup against UConn. They never really got much going and relied heavily on the legs of Brenan Armstrong to get them past a less than mediocre UConn team. I am going to chalk that up as “Week 1 rust.” Robert Anae and Brennan Armstrong will click very soon, and I think we see signs of that against Notre Dame this Saturday. In front of a packed home crowd, the offense will show out and be able to score enough points to cover this spread and maybe even sneak the upset against the Irish.
The kicker for this upset will be the Wolfpack defense. They will be able to limit the success of Sam Hartman with their elite secondary and solid pass rush. Tony Gibson's unit also has some dawgs on the line that can and will contain the run. The plan of attack will mirror what it did last year when NC State forced Hartman into three interceptions, and sacked him four times on their way to a 30-21 dubya against Wake Forest.
Carter-Finley Stadium will be rocking and I think this game is our best chance of getting a field rush this coming weekend. .
I LOVE NC State to cover the +7.5 point spread here and I would advise to put a little sprinkle on them to win the ball game (+250).
